How it Works
Choose your Quest
Select the route you’ll take across Queensland & get ready for the journey of a lifetime. As you walk or run your chosen distance, you’ll reach our Clubs & learn about the young people and communities they support.
Share your Journey
Share your page & raise funds to support youth development programs to empower at-risk and disadvantaged young people throughout Queensland.
Clock up those KMs
Whether it’s in the comfort of your own home, at the Gym or around your local neighbourhood – walk or run your chosen distance. Every step gets you closer to conquering your Quest & supports young Queenslanders who need your help.
Along the way
Meet the amazing young people across Queensland who have changed their stories thanks to the support of people like you!
Leave your virtual footprints in their communities as you raise funds to help the next at-risk young person PCYC Queensland supports through youth development & crime prevention programs.
Track your progress
Your profile page includes your personal distance tally so you can track your progress on your chosen Quest, whilst virtually enjoying the sights through the eyes of PCYC Queensland!
You can log your kilometers in the following ways:
1. Log your kilometers manually
Remember, you can manually add your kilometres to the tally in your My Fitness Activity tab of your profile after registering. This is a great option if you’re using a pedometer or a different method of tracking your distances.
Follow these steps to manually add your KMs:
- Log in to your account and select ‘My Fitness Activity’
- Under ‘Add activity’, enter the date and distance
- The number of KMs will now appear on your fundraising page!
2. Log your kilometres via a Fitness App
If you track your workouts with Fitbit, MapMyFitness or Strava your distances will automatically add to your tally.
Follow these steps to track your KMs automatically:
- Download the Fitbit, Strava or MapMyFitness app and set up your account
- Log in to your Great Queensland Quest account within your fundraising page
- Under the heading ‘Connect your preferred Fitness app’, click your chosen app.
- Follow the prompts to connect your account - do not sync previous workouts to ensure you start the challenge at 0kms
- When you next work out, select ‘start your workout’ in the app on your phone. Once you end your workout, save your workout and your distance will be published to the tally on your page the following day.
If you have synced your app already but it is not working, please log in and re-connect it.
When using Fitbit, you must ‘start’ an activity and save it. Your daily steps will not automatically add to your page. If you are having issues, try syncing through BOTH your Fitbit and the Fitbit app on your smartphone.
When using MapMyFitness, you must ‘start’ your workout, ‘stop’ your workout and then ‘SAVE’ your workout.
Your tally will be updated each day with the previous day’s distances

Stepping Out to Make a Difference
Here are some tips from our resident Gym+Fitness experts on how to get the very best from your walking or running.
Getting Started:
Consult with a healthcare professional
Before embarking on any new exercise regimen, it's always a good idea to consult with your healthcare provider, especially if you have any underlying health conditions or concerns.
Start slow
If you're a beginner, don't push yourself too hard in the beginning. Begin with short distances and gradually increase your pace and duration as your fitness level improves. Remember, consistency is key.
Stretching and warming up
Prior to any exercise, it's essential to warm up your muscles and prepare your body for the activity. Engage in dynamic stretches, such as leg swings and arm circles, to loosen up your muscles and increase blood flow. Save static stretches for after your workout.
Stay hydrated
Drink water before, during, and after your run or walk to stay hydrated. Dehydration can lead to fatigue and muscle cramps, so it's crucial to maintain adequate fluid intake.
Listen to your body
Pay attention to any discomfort or pain during your workout. If you experience sharp or persistent pain, it's important to stop and seek medical advice. Pushing through pain can lead to injuries.
Tips for Achieving Your Goals:
Create a schedule
Establish a consistent exercise routine that works for you. Plan specific days and times for your workouts and stick to them. Consistency is crucial for building endurance and achieving your goals.
Find a buddy or join a group
Running or walking with a friend or joining a local running or walking group can provide accountability, support, and motivation. It can also make your workouts more enjoyable.
